The only person to make 11 consecutive appearences at FloCon, Tim Shimeall is the Senior Network Situational Awareness Analyst of the CERT Program at the Software Engineering Institute (SEI). Shimeall is responsible for the development of methods to support decision making in security at and above the enterprise level, including identification of useful data collection. Of particular interest are methods that affect defended systems and malicious software that are effective despite common defenses. Shimeall’s work is highly empirical and often involves application of formal methods to practical problems facing network security and operational personnel.
